School Readiness
|
Le Jardin programs support children's growth and development in a positive learning environment through a variety of services, including: Early Learning: birth through 5 education ensures school readiness. Health Services and Referrals: ensures healthy children, ready to learn. Family Well-Being: ensures stability for entire family and contributes to school readiness. Community Involvement: ensures Le Jardin services benefit the local community which assists with the required 20% of matching funds. |
Head Start and Early Head Start give children and their families the tools to be successful in school and later in life. At Le Jardin, infants and toddlers have safe, nurturing, and stimulating classrooms that prepare them for pre-school. Le Jardin HS pre-school children enter kindergarten with advanced knowledge in reading and math. The Head Start program takes an innovative approach on school readiness by forming healthy nutritional habits and encouraging children to develop their social and emotional skills.
Le Jardin understands the importance of parent involvement and encourages families to become hands-on through regular volunteering opportunities and special activities. Head Start and Early Head Start programs also link children and families to other services in the community to improve their quality of life. Le Jardin’s goal is to continue improving the quality of life for children and families in our community while providing the tools for them to become our future doctors, scientists and business men and women. |
Le Jardin’s Prenatal Academy is committed to promoting pregnancy wellness through education, support, advocacy, and community awareness. Through the Prenatal Academy, and with the support of dedicated healthcare providers willing to volunteer and educate our community, expectant mothers and their families will receive the care and counseling they need to prepare for the arrival of their newborn. Le Jardin mothers receive referrals to access comprehensive services, that at a minimum, include nutritional counseling, food assistance, oral health care, mental health services, substance abuse prevention and treatment, and emergency shelter or transitional housing in cases of domestic violence.
Our commitment to mothers and families does not end once the child is born. Le Jardin awards a scholarship for the Early Head Start Program to all newborns, allowing them to eventually transition to the Head Start Program at the age of three. The academy will also address needs for appropriate supports for emotional well-being, nurturing and responsive caregiving, and father engagement during pregnancy and early childhood.
